Taken recently as part of a series of images during a teaching session on night photography. This is similar to the image “Mellow Yellow” that is on this site but I thought it was useful to demonstrate a small change in the elements at are being photographed can (for me) impact on the feel and mood of an image. This is definitely one of favourite images and I hope you also enjoy it.

Shot on the beach between Bournemouth and Boscombe on England’s South Coast. Too dark to see the wave crests so I listened to them crashing down to gauge when to take the shot. Taken with a high ISO and almost wide open aperture on a 50mm f/1.2 prime lens to keep the stutter speed relatively fast. This enabled me to keep some structure in the wave features. There’s a little noise in the image but I don’t really mind that.  Hope you enjoy the photograph.

I know! Who’d have thought those setting would work. Still the 50mm f/1.2L Prime Lens didn’t have a problem. The (Fawley) power station on Southampton Water was used in the filming of Mission Impossible 5 where Tom Cruise apparently did some running, jumping and some more running 🙂
